"I used it on a matter where I needed to get on top of the authorities quickly. It was useful in showing how the cases actually dealt with the point, rather than just listing them. Being able to run it across BAILII and the legislation alongside my own papers meant I could get to a settled view faster. I still go back to the sources myself, but it’s a helpful way to get there."

“The main value for me has been in working through large volumes of papers. It pulls together a chronology across the pleadings, evidence and correspondence, and you can see where each point comes from. That makes it easier to keep track of the detail and spot anything that doesn’t quite sit right. It doesn’t replace the exercise, but it does make it more manageable.”

“I had tried a number of these tools over a few weeks, as one does, and most of them weren’t especially useful beyond the obvious. This one was different. It’s been helpful in getting on top of the authorities, working through the papers, and keeping a clear chronology across the material. It also gives you a sensible starting point when you come to draft. It makes the whole process more straightforward.”

1. Case Background
The case of People v. Hall arose from a skiing accident in Colorado in which Hall, a professional skier, collided with another skier while descending a slope at a very high speed. The collision resulted in the death of the other skier, and Hall was charged with reckless man slaughter. The trial court dismissed the charge at the preliminary hearing, concluding that the evidence was insufficient to establish recklessness. The district court affirmed that dismissal. However, the Colorado Court of Appeals reversed, finding that the evidence did provide probable cause to proceed with the charge.
2. Procedural History
Trial Court: Dismissed the reckless manslaughter charge at preliminary hearing, ruling insufficient evidence.
District Court: Affirmed dismissal.
Court of Appeals: Reversed — reinstated the charge, finding probable cause.
3. Issue
Did Hall’s conduct amount to recklessness as defined under Colorado criminal law, sufficient to support a reckless manslaughter charge?
