How Trilegal Adopted Lucio for Competition Law
How Trilegal Adopted Lucio for Competition Law
Working with the firm’s Practice Transformation team, the competition law group ran a structured assessment of multiple global AI platforms, evaluating each on:
Data security & confidentiality;
Streamlined document review and reduced repetitive tasks, especially in complex merger filings and enforcement matters;
Ability to integrate CCI, EC, and global competition law datasets;
Ease of embedding into deal and investigation workflows; and
Measurable impact on turnaround times and analytical depth.
Lucio displayed an alignment with Trilegal’s culture: precision, confidentiality, speed, and a deeply analytical approach for specialised practice areas such as competition law. The competition law group shared extensive feedback during the pilot, and continues to do so. These are regularly incorporated to evolve prompt libraries, workflows, and automation templates.
Deployment proceeded practice-by-practice, with the competition team as an anchor cohort. Adoption included:
Extensive training sessions for associates and counsels;
Reinforcing internal guidelines on when and how to use AI responsibly and with accountability;
End-to-end merger filing hackathons, and simulating mock transactions;
Live antitrust repositories that replaced traditional offline databases and web research; and
Structured incentives and soft nudges to encourage responsible adoption.
Antitrust and Competition partner and Delhi office head at Trilegal, observes, “At Trilegal, we recognise that the future of competition law lies at the intersection of legal expertise and responsible use of technology. Adopting AI isn’t a tech project; it’s a mindset shift that enables the team to dedicate more time to strategic analysis and client engagement, while ensuring the highest standards of quality and confidentiality. Lucio clicked because it mapped to how competition lawyers think: structured, data-informed, and analytical.”

The Road Ahead
Trilegal has created a scalable model for AI adoption grounded in governance, measurable impact, and cultural alignment. Looking ahead, Trilegal’s competition law practice is working with Lucio to:

With Lucio, Trilegal continues to set the benchmark for technology-enabled legal practice, thinking, iterating, and scaling like a tech company.
